Can 2-step PPD Test Be Given While On Amoxicillin?

Hey, i am currently in the middle of taking a 2-step PPD test. My first one came back as negative and i am due to get the next one in a couple days. However, just last week i started taking amoxicillin and won t finish till the day of the next PPD. I was wondering if i can still get a proper second ppd test while on the antibiotics?

Hi,

Yes, you can safely get a proper 2nd test while on Amoxicillin. Antibiotics like Chloramphenicol and Erythromycin may suppress the PPD response and hence, result in a false negative. However, no significant effect is there with Penicillin or Amoxicillin.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
