Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Acetaminophen is safe in pregnancy and has no harmful effect on the foetus. You can take it for pain relief. Codeine is a pregnancy category C drug which should not be taken in pregnancy unless the benefits of the the drug outweighs the risk. Codeine is found to have teratogenic effect on the fetus and is found to cause respiratory tract malformation in the fetus. I would suggest you to consult a physician and get properly examined, investigated and treated accordingly. In the meantime, you can take steam inhalation for symptomatic relief. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr Deepti verma
