Can Althea And Metformin Pills Cause Prolonged Periods?

hi my OB advice me to take althea pills with metformin 3 times a day since i also have a PCOS i thought that this will make my period regular, but as of now i have my period for almost 8 days.is it normal? by the way it is my first time to take althea and metformin
