General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
Ambien should not taken along with alcohol.

Since both Ambien (Zolpidem) and Alprazolam are basically sedative-hypnotics and produce central nervous system (CNS) depression. Alcohol or alcohol containing beverages are also CNS depressants.

So using Ambien or Alprazolam together with alcohol may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion,& difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, & motor coordination.

You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with Ambien or Alprazolam and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery.

Best wishes.
