Can Amitriptyline Be Taken For Cataplexy?

I have cataplexy & narcolepsy and was using sodium oxibate until cost was not covered by medicare are there other less expensive drugs to treat the condition I have heard that amitriptyline taken over a two year term has eliminated the cataplexy altogether. I don t expect these results but would like to know if control of the problem is possible
