Can Amoxicillin Be Taken Once A Day For Tooth Pain?

Been taking amoxicillan for infected tooth once/day instead of twice a day as prescribed. Could this be why my tongue constantly hurts badly all day everyday ? My best guess only thing I've done different and not according to instructions. Root canal stopped the tooth pain. I know this is a tough one.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain every medicine has a half life and after that its action dminishes so as you are taking amoxicillin only once a day its activity diminishes in approximately in 8 hours and then the infection will start increasing again as the resistence has weaned off..
You in case of amoxicillin you should take it atleast 3 times a day..
Tongue is hurting can be due to inflammation of tongue and can be due to inflammation secondary to side effect caused by the medication, dry mouth, oral infection like thrush etc..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can advise you to gargle with numbing mouthwash, take Ibuprofen for pain and suck ice pops..
Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of water..
Chew sugar free chewing gums.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
