Can Amoxicillin Clear Abscess In Gums?

Hi There, I am presently taking Metronidazole (200mg) plus Amoxvcillin (500mg) for two abcsesses in my gums which have been drained. I m feeling very nauseous and feel it s the Metronidazole making me feel sick. If I stop this medication will the Amoxvcillin clear the infection? I m also taking Plaquennil, Somac, Perivasc, Lengout, Meloxicam for my Mixed Connective Tissue Disease Thank you Regards Linda

Dear thanks for the question.

Yes amocacillin alone can clear your infection but metronidazole is a additional drug, which fasten the recovery. With amocacillin alone it will take more days, so the ultimate advantages of avoiding metronidazole will be negated. I would advise you to continue both drugs and take antacids for your side effects (nausea)., so that you recover earlier.

I hope I have clarified your doubt. Please write for follow up questions. I wish you rapid recovery. Kindly hit a thanks. Thank you
