Can Asperger Syndrome Remain Undetected During Childhood And Get Diagnosed During Adulthood?

Is there a such thing as adult Asperger s that has never been diagnosed as a child. I had trouble in elementary, high school and college with social cues. I realized as much in the past decade and have been fighting against some of the social oblivion I used to not recognize about myself. I am 49 years old. No one really talked about mental health in the 1980s

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* It is possible to get Asperger syndrome to be detected in adulthood in certain cases.

* The fundamental behind such presentation is explained via central coherence and mirror neuron system theory, which reflects the clinical symptoms once the genetic mutation or alteration has been taken place and not repaired by the DNA.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
