Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, My wife (age 31) was treated for Deep Vein Thrombosis a few years ago after the birth of our third child. She was prescribed a blood thinner and told she should take it for the remainder of her life. She eventually decided to discontinue use, after getting a second opinion and considering her age and obvious risk factors of taking a blood thinner each day. Today she told me her leg was starting to hurt in the same spot it did when she had the blood clot. My question for you today is, would taking aspirin be safe or effect until she can reach medical attention? She is at work now and probably will not be able to leave for some time. Thank You.

Can Aspirin Be Taken For Deep Vein Thrombosis?
Hello, The regular anticoagulant therapy can also reduce the incidence of deep vein thrombosis minus the increased complications. So, I recommend continuing taking aspirin daily to prevent thrombosis. I also suggest to use stockings and maintain avoid standing on feet for too long. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
