Can Asprin Be Taken For Heart And Lung Problem?

Hi, My nephew is 23 yrs. of age and has been diagnosed with mildly prominent cardiac silhouette and a shadow on his lung. He is taking aspirin daily until he goes for his Dr. s appointment next week. He felt no symptoms. He has been going to the gym and jogging on the treadmill for about an hour. He is overweight, don t know his exact weight and he is approx. 6.4 tall. What should he do and is it ok that he take aspirin? Thank you, Nina

Hello Nina!
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
Aspirin is a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) effective in treating fever, pain, and inflammation in the body. It also prevents blood clots (i.e., is antithrombotic).
Aspirin, inhibits the function of platelets in a manner that is different from other NSAIDs, and its antithrombotic effects last longer than other NSAIDs. This is why aspirin is used for preventing heart attacks and strokes.

I think his doctor prescribe him Aspirin to prevent blood clots that may happen due to his cardiac condition.

Hope I was able to help you.
Take care.
