Can Azithromycin Be Taken In Place Of Flagyl After A Surgery?

I was just prescribed Flagyl for a minor surgery I had, the warnings say absolutely no alcohol, and we have an out of town wedding this weekend. I have a 3 full 3 day course of 500mg azithromycin, is this comparable? Can I take that instead of the flagyl?

Hi,

They don't target the same bacteria so I don't think they can be interchanged as your doctor must have thought of something while prescribing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita,
