Can Benzocaine In Baby Anbesol Treat Cold Sore In An Infant S Mouth?

My two year 9 month old daughter has a fever and about a dozen cold sores in her mouth, along her upper and lower gums and she is constantly complaining of the pain and refusing to eat...She had an initial outbreak about 1 year ago and was diagnosed with some type of long medical term. All I remember is that it was some type of herpes and the doctor gave her acyclovir (sp?) or something. Anyway, I was wondering would the benzocaine in baby Anbesol be okay to rub onto her gums to numb the pain temporarily? OR what do you recommend? I ve only giving her Tylenol right now, which has the fever under control
