Can Benzonatate And Vicodin Be Taken Together?

Taking benzonatate and viccodin- is it dangerous? I also had nyquill last night/within 24 hours. What are the dangers of these three drugs combined? I have pneumonia (on doxycycline as well) and cannot stop coughing which is also causing awful back/rib pain the last 6 weeks. I am a very heart/lung healthy non smoker (never take drugs) person; drink moderately. Worried about all the substances. I am drinking a probiotic twice a day to avoid a yeast infection.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are some forms of nyquill that contain acetaminophen (tylenol), which is also present in viccodin, so this may result in excess use of the acetaminophen.

If the nyquill contains the cough suppressant dextromethorphan, this may increased the chance of drowsiness and dizziness that can occur with hydrocodone.
If an antihistamine is present in the cough mixture, this can also cause dizziness, drowsiness.

It is possible that you may not have any significant symptoms and would be able to use the meds without any problems

I hope this helps
