General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Betnesol contains 'betamethasone', which is a corticosteroid that is used for systemic and topically for inflammatory conditions.
Corticosteroids should be taken for a short duration and should be tapered and stopped to minimise the adverse reactions.
On taking oral corticosteroids on long term, you may experience side effects like: glaucoma, cataracts, stomach ulcers, high blood sugar and high blood pressure.
Hence its use on long term should be avoided.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
