Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently started taking brintellix to replace Lexapro which I felt had lost its value, meaning perhaps not working. Two and a half weeks now and the doctor has perscribed 5mg. with Lexapro the first week and the second week 10 mg of only Brintellix. For week 3 I am now taking 20 mg of Brintellix. My question, I called her today to say I did not feel well. Her nurse who responded said to decrease the amount back to 5 mg with Pristiq that she would prescribe to be taken together...I dont think so. Brintellix is expensive and so is Pristiq. What do you think ...I believe I was simply looking to hear that time would take care of this feeling of unwellnes...your thoughts.
* As per my clinical experience, the Brintellix contains Vortioxetine a drug from SSRI group to help depression condition.
* If the desired drug effect is not achieved, it is mandatory to consume low dose of additional SSRI as Lexapro which contains Escitalopram for a suggested period of time as per the doc advise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
