I am currently taking warfarin. I have arthritis very bad on top of my feet causing me unbearable pain when walking. I have bee told the only thing I can take is arthritis Tylenol which does not help at all. Any other medication I can take. I had taken Celebrex which helped tremendously but told I cannot take while taking warfarin. Help
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It's not safe to take Celebrex while on Warfarin. Taking Celebrex together with Warfarin may cause you to bleed more easily.
Since each of these medicines are known to cause bleeding as their side effect, so if taken together the risk of bleeding increases.
Your may advise a dose adjustment of Warfarin based on your prothrombin time or International Normalized Ratio (INR) if he wishes to prescribe Celebrex.
Your doctor might prescribe opioid analgesic like Tramadol or Oxycodone for the symptomatic relief of pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
