Can Celebrex Be Taken With Warfarin To Manage Pain After Knee Replacement?

I recently had a total knee replacement 3 weeks ago. I m having a lot of swelling and pain especially at night. I also have mico vascular disease. My question is can I take Celebrex with warfarin. After surgery I began taking warfarin to prevent bleeding. I m wondering if Celebrex is risky with warfarin. The Internet says it has moderate interactions.

Hi,

Celebrex contains Celecoxib which is used to relieve some symptoms caused by arthritis, such as inflammation, stiffness, swelling and joint pain. Celebrex is taken on short time basis to relieve pain, such as back pain or menstrual cramps. But you may take Celebrex on a long term basis for chronic conditions like arthritis, if your doctor determines this is safe for you. Using Warfarin together with Celecoxib like Celebrex may cause you to bleed more easily.

You may need a dose adjustment based on your prothrombin time or International Normalized Ratio (INR). Contact your doctor immediately if you have any headache, dizziness, weakness, vomiting, blood in your urine or stools, unusual bleeding or bruising. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Don't start or stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
