Can Clavam Be Taken For A Long Duration?

I have been taking Clavam 625 (antibiotic tablets) 1 at morning & 1 at night for the last 10 days for treatment to some ailments. It works good and there is improvement. So, I think to continue these tablets for 5 more days. I did not consult a doctor for this but is self medication. I am not aware of its side effects, if taken for a long time. . . . Can I extend to 5 more days?

Hi,

Use of an antibiotic depends on the reason for it. Normally 7 days of antibiotics is enough and there is no need to extend it further so I would recommend you not to go more than what you have already done.
Possible side effects are diarrhea and colitis due to C. difficile which can be very serious and cause blood with stools. Yeast infection is another common side effect as well.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
