Can Clopitab Be Taken After Inguinal Hernia Surgery And Prostate Gland Procedure?

Gud Mrng Sir , My Father who is in his mid 70 s has recently undergone Inguinal Hernea surgery followed with Prostat Gland (GR-IV) procedure . After his prostat procedue he is under medication prescribed by Urologist , Now since he also has a cardiac history, he is taking Clopitab regularly since quite sometime now , as adviced by Cardiologist . But due to the recent procedure carried out on him , he has been adviced by Uro Dr. not to take Clopitab for another 15 days , whereas the cardio doc. has asked him not to miss the same at any cost . Please advice .

Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the clopidrogel is an anti platelet medication and has to be withheld for a period of 3 days after the surgery over prostate and inguinal hernia. With the continuous consumption of clopidrogel, there are all high chances of severe bleeding from surgical site and hence should not be consumed till further order of your physician or surgeon.
