Can Clotrimazole Be Used For Folliculitis?

I ve been told I have folliculitis.keep getting this reoccurring rash on my chest, neck and upper back.ive been put on antibiotics but after my course is done it comes back.oral steroids take it away almost immediately but I know I can t take them long term(wish I could)it s the only thing that seems to work.i have done my own research and believe I have pityrosporum folliculitis.i have read a few times antibiotics aren t good for this type because it s a yeast/fungus.is this true?im getting desperate so I m going to try clotrimizole....any advice or suggestions?

Hello,

As per your case history of folliculitis, my treatment advice is:

1. Do not squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.

If the problem persists, then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
