Can Crestor And Metformin Be The Cause Diarrhea In A Diabetic Person?
I am 48 year old woman with diabetes. Have had diarrhea for over a week and couple of days with cramps and have gas. I take metformin 1000 mg every 12 hrs. Lisonpril 5mg once a day and crestor 10 mg once a day. recently given farxiga 10 mg for 2 mos. I can t hold anything in my stomach. Don t know if its the meds or what.
dear sir/madam i can understand your concern infection of gastrointestinal system is most common cause of diarrhea. but some time diarrhoea might be due to metformin 1000 mg also. but diarrhoea due to metformin will be due to gastric irritation by this drug and will slowly settle when you change metformin to sustained release formulation. but the presence of cramps and gas is more in favour of infective diarrhoea. i suggest you to see a doc and consider taking antibiotics like cifran-tz twice a day for 7 days to settle the issue. take ample of fluids to prevent dehydration its better to stop metformin in this kind of scenario and restart once you fell comfortable. tablet farxiga can be continued. take electrolyte powder after ever diarrhoea regards
