Can Cymbalta Be Taken For Aching Legs While On Treatment For Shingles?
HI. I Had shingles across the back waistline In April and may. Went away but in November I started itching at the back bra line , it crawls, and some times burns. Is this Neuralgia from the shingles, it just doesn t go away my dr gave me Gapapentin ,then about 2 weeks in my legs started aching.i stopped the Gabipentin. She also gave me Cymbalta, which I haven t taken yet . Will that help?
The burning and crawling sensation are in keeping neuralgia, it usually does not involve itching though this can also occur. In the areas that are itching however, it would be best to make sure that no rash is present.
Cymbalta is an antidepressant mainly but it is also used to treat neuralgia in persons with no history of depression. Gabapentin was initially intended to treat seizures but it is also used to treat neuropathy (abnormal nerve function.... neuralgia).
Many medications in the anti seizure or anti depressant categories are used to treat nerve related pain.
You should try it to see if it helps you.
I hope this helps
