Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have PCOS and suffered from a lot of hair loss during my exams this time last year. I started using Nizoral shampoo and this helped the hair to stop falling. However, my hair has started to thin a lot and is falling out again by the handful, even though there has been no change to my diet or my hair care. I am still using Nizoral, and I started taking Dianette about 3 months ago for my acne. Could Dianette be causing my hair loss?
Contraceptive pills can cause hair loss as a side effect. But hair loss may not occur in women using contraceptives. This also depends on the sensitivity of your hair follicles and your genetic predisposition. Biotin supplements can be taken regularly. High protein food and adequate hydration is also essential.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
