Can Dicaris Tablets Be Taken For Vitiligo While Having High Liver Enzymes?
Hi Doctor, I am 51 year old male diagnosed recently with generalized vitiligo and my doctor prescribed dicaris tablets 150mg to be taken twice a week one Saturday and one on Sunday for six weeks, however I am bit skeptical due to my drinking habit of alcohol, I normally have liver enzymes a little bit on higher side done few months ago was GGT- 105 AST-45 ALT-51 At this juncture would it be advisable for me to undergo this treatment
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Dicaris contains active ingredient levamisole, which is an anti-neoplastic and immunomodulator type of medication. Kindly take the medication as advised by your doctor. Side effects noted with the use of medication include: Nausea, Vomiting, Loss of appetite, Diarrhoea, Difficulty breathing or swallowing, Decreased bone marrow function, Mood changes, Mouth sores and Headache. Your liver enzymes show that GGT is increased more than two-fold and it is primarily due to your drinking habit. Also ALT and AST are borderline higher, indicating the commencement of liver dysfunction. Although the medication you are taking does not affect liver functioning, it is advisable that you need to stop the habit of consuming alcohol to avoid further damage and prevent complications arising out of it. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
