General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing the muscles of the heart and blood vessels.
It is used to treat hypertension, angina and certain heart rhythm disorders.
Kindly avoid intake of Grapefruit and grapefruit juice, as it may interact with diltiazem and lead to unwanted side effects.
Based on the response to this medication, it would be decided weather she would require any other medication(s) along with it or not.
Kindly give the medication as has been prescribed and do the necessary follow-up as advised.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
