Can Disulfiram Be Taken For Alcohol Addiction?

i am an lvn and just found out about disulfiram, how does this work. i work in a mental hospital with a large number of alcoholic patients if this drug helped with addiction it would be wonderful to give to patients. what about narcotic drugs, or illegal drugs?

Hello and welcome to Healthcamagic. Dosulfiram is one of medication used for treatment of chronic alcoholism. it makes man to be sensitive to alcohol and then it makes you nauseous. This is effective in some people but it should be combined with psychotherapy.
