After going through numerous testing and laser surgery for dry eye within the past 2 months I ve been given a prescription for doxycycline hyalite 50 mg (2 tablets per day for 1 week, then 1 tablet per day until the 42 tablets are used). I am concerned about side effects as I am on high blood pressure medication, enalapril 20mg and amlodipine 10 mg. I had some more eye testing done yesterday. I m going for a follow-up eye dilation in a couple of weeks. He s quite determined that I have surgery to help correct my condition. I am very apprehensive about this as my eye pressures are fine and I have no major problems with my eyes, although I do tear up a bit when reading for a significant period of time. I am a 75 year old male in relatively good health, although I do have inclusion body myositis (IBM), loss of quadriceps muscle where walking (especially stairs), is somewhat compromised. I have had this for 6-7 years, but am doing better than the average IBMer. I will appreciate your opinion concerning my newly prescribed medicine. THANKING YOU in advance. Dick
