Can Duphaston Be Taken During Pregnancy?

Hi I am 6 weeks pregnant and having some internal bleeding around the sack doctor has advised Duphaston 10 mg twice daily for that. I have read that the medicine has been banned in US, UK due to its side effects on fetus. I am quite worried what to do what not to do. Please suggest.

Hi
Duphaston is a synthetic progesterone generally indicated the management of problems associated with progesterone deficiency. It is also used to help maintain uterine lining in early pregnancy and prevent a possible abortion due to progesterone deficiency. Duphaston may not harm the baby but over dose/misuse can lead to a number of side effects including fetal death and spontaneous abortion.Just take as prescribed by the Doctor and for the said duration.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
