General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Effexor (Venlafaxine) medicine metabolizes secreted in breastmilk. As such no acute side effects can be observed in child. However, on long run weight gain can be seen.

Besides it also causes sedation in child, you should keep an eye on these symptoms. Alternative options are Paroxetine or Nortriptyline drugs but consult your treating physicians for that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
