General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, Eptoin and Gardinol can be taken in place of Barbitoin. Barbitoin actually contains Phenobarbitone and Phenytoi as active ingredients. Whereas Eptoin (Phenytoin) and Gardinol (Phenobarbitone) contain the same active ingredients equally effective in controlling convulsions hence these can be taken in place of Barbitoin under the supervision of his treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
