Can Evista Be Taken When Diagnosed With Osteoporosis?

my family physcian wants me to take evista. i have osteoporosis. for the past 20 years medication has been given to me to help my osteoporosis. i have gotten sick on them lot of pain in bones. I am 76 yrs of age and take bloodpressure meds, thyroid(thyroid removed) Lipitor, calcium and D3. I have had 3 surgeries on my back. Nuero surgeon asked me not to take it , I am afraid of evistas side affects.
