Can Fluconazole Taken Before Receiving An Epidural Shot?

Hello - I am scheduled to receive epidural steroid injections on 3/30. I understand I should not have taken any antibiotics for ten days prior to the procedure. I am also on fluconazole as treatment for valley fever. Is Fluconazole considered a antibiotic in this situation?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You can safely take fluconazole before the epidural shot. It will not interact with anaesthetic drug and will not affect the efficacy of epidural shot.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
