I have recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis with Dexascan. Results were normal ten years ago with Dexascan. Doctor says it needs to be treated. Both parents had osteoporosis, father not severely, but mother broke wrist and later three places in spine. We have German ancestry, small built, but not frail. I am 72, and otherwise have no serious health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, or cancer except for basal cell carcinomas. However, all those issues except diabetes are in the family history. I have avoided them because of a healthier lifestyle than parents. I am willing to treat, but I am not willing to risk dozens of side effects of Prolia. Two health care professionals -- one pharmacist and one dietitian -- told me that Prolia does not work and costs an uninsured $ 1,000.00 per. After reading the webmd.com site, it appears to me, considering my health history, family history, and other current lifetime medications, that my best choice is Fosomax. What is the history of success with Fosomax? Thank you.
