Can GERD Or Gastric Issues Occur Near The Duodenum Instead Of The Usual Center?

Hi Dr. Recently I had a severe pain next to my right rib cage. I think that area is the duodenum? I have some history of minor GERD, and for years there is a nagging pain on and off in that specific area. I took Pantoprazole and on the 2nd day the pain was relieved. My Question is : Can Gastric or GERD happen in the DUODENUM area, instead of the usual center (in between the ribs)? Thank you
