Can Gabapentin Cause Abdominal Cramps?

I have been taking gabapentin for a while now for nerve issues. I am taking 3- 300mg pills 3 times a day. I have been having cramps in my stomach and calf areas the past 2-3 weeks while sleeping. I saw stomach pain as a side effect but don t think this is the same. Are cramps a side effect of this drug? I took Neurontin 15 years ago without any side effects.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Gabapentin does not cause abdominal cramps. If symptoms are severe, you can consult a general surgeon and get an ultrasound scan done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
