Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear sir i can understand your concern
in my opinion we will advise our patients to take glucon-d only during moderate to severe hypoglycemic events.
this glucon-d is a pure form of glucose it requires no digestion and will be absorbed directly in your intestine with in minutes after consumption.
this D-glucose is associated with rapid raise of blood sugar.
in my opinion your dad might be suffering from hypoglycemia due to
1.excess dosage of medication
2.might be due to reduced intake of food.
3.As a rare occasion severe diarrhoea will decrease digestion and absorption of food.
taking glcone -d on a regular basis is not advisable in diabetes as it might shoot your blood sugars.
i suggest you to see your doc and reschedule medication to avoid hypoglycemia and also consider doing home monitoring of blood glucose to track the diabetes control at home.
regards
Dr vamsi
