I am female.66,,history of HBP and coronary artery disease,,,recently 2 1/2 weeks ago had a real bad dizzy spell while rolling up a blind, the dizziness has not gone away,,recently had MRI of brain and ekg,,both showed normal.Dr just treating me with meclizine, which is not helping,,most of the spinning happens when I lay down or get back up.it is getting frustrating. Hi,

Feeling dizzy and spinning especially when you lay down or get back up, might be related to:
- anemia : should get a whole blood work to exclude ti
- Menier's syndrome: problems with inner ear, that's why doctor put on meclizine
- cervical spondyloarthrosis: get an X-ray of the cervical spine
- orthostatic hypertension : severe oscillation of blood pressure when standing up. Get your blood pressure monitored, record the results for future reference.

I also advise my patients with the same problems as you to:
- get up or lay down slowly
- avoid rapid head/body movements
- I also prescribe diazepam or lorazepam when they they the episodes.
- get more rest when you have the attack

Hope it was of help!
