I work in a medical lab that works with cancer genetics. Today I was discarding FFPE tissue samples. As I was doing so, I felt a miniscule prick from an odd shard of thin glass. There was no blood welling, but I did think there was a puncture, a red dot. I immediately washed it out with bleach and some diluted ethanol. I am checking it now, and I can t see any sign of the puncture site. Should I be worried about contracting blood borne pathogens such as HCV or HIV?
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Chances of transmitting hiv, hbsag or hav through open wound is very rare. Deep wound contaminated with fair amount of hiv infected blood can leads to this but from your case it looks negligible chance. So no need to worry. Just be relaxed. Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
