Can HIV Infection Go Undetected In Tests?

i had unprotected vaginal sex with a female who was rumored to be HIV positive in december 2008. not knowing this, we had sex about five times over the course of 2009. my last HIV test was in may 2010. it was 99.9% negative. is there any risk anything went undectected?

Thank you for query.The chances of transmission of HIV by sexual route is 1/ 200 to 1/2000 even if the partner is HIV infected.so not all intercourse will lead to HIV transmission.So you may be lucky.If you undergone antibody tests after a gap of above 6 months i think they are almost 100% accurate and the chances of going undetected is less.The days are too old and by now around 4 years after episode if you were positive some manifestation should have come.You can get back for any clarifications with details.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and venereologist.

It is not the thing that the HVI test gone undetected this could be false positive or negative and this is only possible with faulty test kit, otherwise PCR is such method that gives correct result, hope this helps.
