Hi,
The type of symptoms as well as period to show the symptoms of
HIV infection are very variable person to person. However, the earliest symptom in most of the person is
flu like symptom followed by other symptoms of infections. However, these symptoms may appear within 2-4 weeks of infection. The symptoms of infection can not be present before 2 weeks of infection.
Also, some of the patients may take a long time- may be months or even years for the symptoms to show. It is also to be noted, that many of the patients, never show any infection at all. Usually 10-15% of patients with this infection are even unaware of their infection. Hence, the only criteria to confirm the infection of HIV is the specific test against this infection.
No test can detect HIV infection including
blood test immediately. Depending on the test, the earliest, infection of HIV can be detected at least 10 days of exposure. However, 2-4 weeks seems the optimum period for most of the tests to show positive results.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
