Can HSV-1 Lead To HSV-2 In Future?

Hi, are there any effects to kissing someone with a cold sore blister if I already have the virus? Will this cause an outbreak for me? I'm fairly certain we both have HSV-1 and have read up on the risks of catching HSV-2, but I read somewhere that there are different strains of HSV-1 and they can 'cross breed' and I could get worse/more frequent outbreaks in the future. Is this true?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
HSV 1 infection can be able to spread through kissing while either one of the partner has lesions or when there is a recent recurrence. But kissing not necessarily leads to an outbreak.
HSV 1 is entirely different strain from HSV 2 and It can not be converted to HSV2 even after any long time. But both can be acquired from same partner or from a different partner and can exist at the same time in an individual.
