I have had a chronic cough for over 14 years. I have had every test possible including but not limited to: heart tests, breathing tests, stress tests, sinus cts, throat cts, lung cts, sputum and blood tests, 2 bronchoscopies, acid reflux tests, ( affirmative diagnosis) appt with best cough specialist at U of Mass, speech therapy, voice box tests, inordinate number of allergy tests, consistent pulmonary tests, every combination of nasal sprays, inhalers, reflux meds,(which I take on a regular basis), nebulizer meds , treatment of sleep apnea with mouth retainer, holistic regimens prescribed by world renound dr. of pharmacy, probiotics, vitamins. I do salt water sinus rinses on a regular basis. I could go on and on. I work with small children and get recurrent chest infections on a monthly basis. In an average year I need to go on a regimen of antibiotics and or steriods at least 10 times or more. These infections are indicated by very heavy green mucus coughed up, wheezing, and a horrible cough that is debilitating to my life. It is so bad that I frequently will throw up from coughing so hard. I will get coughing jags so bad that I have to completely remove myself from a situation. I am not able to go to public events (movies, restaurants etc) due to the heavy loud cough unless I am prescribed Hycodan to suppress the cough. The bottom line is that my immune system seems to be so compromised that I get these recurrent infections.However I have had all blood tests available to determine any deficiency and nothing shows up. I am at my wits end. I currently have an infection and am on Augmentin 825 which is a regular event. The coughing is unbearable. ANY THOUGHTS OR SUGGESTIONS????
