Can Hydrocodone Pain Medication Be Taken After A Dose Of Ibuprofen?

my friend was in a car accident and suffered a head injury 5 days ago. he is out of the hospital & seems to be doing well. he tried earlier to not take the hydrocodone/acetaminaphine that was prescribed, but rather ibuprofen. now 2 hours later, the pain is increasing. will it hurt him to take the pain med on top of the ibuprofen?

keep him under observation. for nausea vomiting and pupil size acuity of vision be tested. if no such symptoms then there will be complete recovery.
