General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history he seems to be suffering from post-herpetic neuralgia. It is the most common complication of shingles causing burning pain that typically occurs in the area of the skin where the shingles outbreak first occurred.

I suggest gabapentin or pregablin for the effective treatment of such pain. Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic used on the skin to prevent infection of minor cuts, scrapes, and burns.

Whereas Men-phor lotion is commonly used to relieve minor muscle or joint pain. These two medications are not useful in the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
