Can I Become Pregnant Even When I Have Immplanon Intact?
Hello, I have a question about the implanon? I had the mirena from january 2009-september 2011. I had no periods that whole time. I took the mirena out and put the implanon in in october . I have not had a period the whole time until recently. I am worried. for over two weeks i ve been having brown stuff in my underwear, like spotting. but abnormal looking to me. I am wondering if I should go to the doctor? I want to make sure there is nothing abnormal, or if my immplanon isn t working anymore. When I had the depo shot two before i had my daughter in 2008 and never had a period on that either. I ve never had one while on those types of birth control. so it s worrying me that i m having spotting, that it s brown and not like a real period, and that it s been going on over two weeks.
Hi, Thanks for the query. The possibility of pregnancy is less while being on implanon. If you had unprotected intercourse during the period between two contraceptive measures, then there is some possibility for pregnancy. Implanon can lead to side effects like intermenstrual spotting, brown discharge etc. So, the spotting you are having could be a side effect of implanon. Brown discharge usually indicates the collected blood and no need to worry about the color. You once check for quantitative blood test for pregnancy. If the test comes negative, the possibility of pregnancy is less. Take care.
