Can I Bring Any Diseases Into My Home From Walking On Blood Traces Left By My Car Tires After Running Over A Roadkill?
I was driving and ran over blood on the road of a roadkill…not sure what animal it was as it was dead on the side however the blood was fresh. I drove another 10 minutes and then came home and parked the car in garage. I am now Concerned if the tires may still have blood on them and then I walked where the tires went so if my shoes may have some traces of the blood too and what diseases could I be bringing into my home because of it?
You don’t need to worry about bringing serious diseases into your home this way. Most infections that animals carry cannot survive for long once blood is outside the body and exposed to air, sunlight, and drying. By the time your car tires rolled over it and you later walked in the garage, the chance of any germs still being alive and infectious is extremely low.
To be safe, you can wash the area of the garage floor with regular household cleaner and wipe or rinse the soles of your shoes. That is more than enough. There is no realistic risk of catching dangerous infections for you or your family from dried animal blood on car tires or shoe soles in this situation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
