Hi Doctor, I wish to know a lady suffering from hypo thyroid,, can conceive or not is there any problems in married life. This I am asking as my daughter aged 29 recently her engagement broke due to hypothyroid , as she is suffering from this ailment since when she was 8. Pls clear my doubts. Thanks and ever yours, NKC, India. If possible do mail me the detail about the thyroid so as to enable me to make aware of this to those who are less informed or not informed.
Hi
It is true that hypothyroidism may be a rare cause contributing to infertility. But I do not see why that is persisting so long! It is easily treatable. The treatment is very very simple - just one tablet a day! Only the dose has to be adjusted - the doctor will do based on TSH values. It MUST be taken life long - it is simply a replacement therapy... See a good Hormone Specialist (Endocrinologist) - he is the best person to advice properly
People with BP and Sugar are taking life long medications! This is so simple!
People with kidney transplants have married and delivered!
There need be no problem in married life...
Relax - may be she is destined to get a better man! You have pointed out - 'Less informed or not informed' - absolutely right. There are also those, who are MISinformed!
Good luck
God bless you
