Can I Conceive With Weight Gain Issues While Treating PCOD?

Dear Doc,Greetings from Ankitha! I have PCOD. When I was 67kg my periods were normal inspite of PCOD. In two years I gained 10kgs , eventually ended up with no periods. Was detected with hypothyroidism , high level of prolactin and high cholesterol and now under medication for them and everything under control. But still don t reduce my weight( did not take much effort). With sysron ncr I got my periods in August . Then stopped sysron and started metformin 500mg twice a day since September 25 and trying for a baby. Of course I can t believe my periods on pregnancy . As of today home urine test says negative. Will I get pregnant? Can I believe the urine test? Does my weight influence my pregnancy?Please Advice.Thanks.

Hi,

While weight loss or heavyweight may cause little disruption in hormone balance however it does not cause complete infertility. Patients of PCOS do struggle for conceiving as that not easy, but it does not mean that they can't conceive. Merformen, and weight loss increases the chance. This is further increase by adding other fertility drug like clomophine. So you might have not conceived this time, but you should not be disappointed. You may get in the Future. Keep in touch with your doctor.
