Can I Rely On Polymyxin B For Eye Infection With Severe Swelling And Itching?

My daughter just had an eye infection where her eye sweeled a bit and was itchy and a bit sore. The doctor gave her Trimethoprim sulfate and polymyxin B and it cleared it right up. I am now displaying similar issues in my eye and wondered about the wisdom of using the same drops in my eye. Please advise. Gregg

Hello
It seems from the history that your daughter had a eye infection which was treated with Trimethoprim sulfate and polymyxin B and now you are having similar issues.
You can use the same eye drops but once a eye drop is opened it has to be opened with in a month. If the infection is acquired from your daughter it is more likely to respond to the antibiotic eye drops. Trimethoprim and polymyxin B are antibiotics and can be used for treatment .

Thank you
