Can I Take Ibuprofen With Allegra?

Can I take ibuprofen with Allegra? I got some swelling in my mouth after a restaurant meal, took an Allegra a friend had on her, and the mouth swelling was gone in one hour, but now my ears and jaw hurt, and the back of my throat feels a little tight. I am 55 and rarely take anything but Ibuprofen for a little joint pain sometimes, or chlortabs for mild mold/dust allergies.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. The swelling in the mouth which subsided after taking Allegra was an allergic reaction. If the reaction has totally subsided, then you do not need to continue Allegra unless the reaction develops again.

The pain in the jaw and ear seems like a problem of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ). This joint is located near ear and is responsible for opening and closing of jaw along with side to side movements. You can take Ibuprofen for the pain even if you are taking Allegra.

However, I would advise you to visit an oral & maxillofacial surgeon for clinical examination of the TMJ and further investigations.
